— Ori-Afro Jazz Ensemble is an energetic, six-piece ensemble performing contemporary music with an emphasis on AfroLatin and AfroCaribbean jazz. Ori is a Nigerian word that translates as "little voice" or the "conscience" that guides humans on their life path.

— Sancocho Music & Dance Collage will perform music and dance traditional to Africa that have strong Latin influences, such as the rumba from Cuba and bomba from Puerto Rico. In Latin America, "sancocho" is a stew combining a variety of meats, vegetables, and spices to creat a unique dish. These drummers and dancers create delicious concoctions sure to satisfy the musical appetite.

— Amoah's African Drum Works features musical director Tony Artis practicing the rhythms and powerful beats of Ghana and West Africa.

At 3 p.m. Play Ethic, a chamber group specializing in light classical and orchestral music familiar to audiences everywyere, will take the Civic Plaza stage. Led by Maestra Pamela Purpus, the group is a mixture of professionals and hobbyists. Their repertoire includes Grieg, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Schubert and other works for strings and winds.

At 4 p.m. the Pride of Indy Jazz Band, founded in 2007, will perform. This musical ensemble is part of Indiana's only LGBT musical organization, which includes a concert band, marching band, pep band, woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, and jazz ensemble. Representatives from the Humane Society of Indianapolis will have several of their feline and canine friends on hand for a petting zoo from 1 to 4 p.m. Visit with these animals and learn more about pet adoption and how you can provide a deserving animal with a warm, safe, and loving home this holiday. Founded by violinist Ginny Womack in 2002, the group brings the rich tradition of Jewish soul music to life. Comprised of violin, clarinet, accordion, guitar, bass, drums, and a male vocalist, the klezmer band performs a variety of folk music originating in Eastern Europe.

IndyKlez is featured in the documentary titled "Courthouse Girls of Farmland" which tells the story about seven, small-town senior women who left the bridge clube to make a bold and controversial statement about the historic preservation of the Randolph County Courthouse. The film has been shown at film festivals in Santa Fe, Washington, DC, Breckenridge, and Australia.

The IND Foundation, a nonprofit organization established to care for and maintain current and future permanent and temporary works of art at the airport, will host a book sale recognizing the availability of the first edition of their new book.

Titled "IND: The Art of it All," the coffee-table book features outstanding photography, information about the airport's art and architecture, and a selection of recipes from airport restaurateurs.

Founded in 1989, it includes more than 1,400 middle school, high school, and college campuses across the country and internationally and will positively impact 300,000 individuals this year. Best Buddies volunteers contribute services to their communities that equate to more than $70 million each year.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is hosting the NASAO (National Associaiton of State Aviation Officials) June 1 through June 3, 2009. State directors from the Great Lakes, Central, and Southwest regions of the country will attend as well as their associated FAA headquarters and regional personnel. The meeting will include a dinner and tour at Indianapolis International the evening of June 2.

The airport will host the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce (GICC) "Slingshot" event, which is designed to provide opportunities for emerging businesses to showcase their companies to local business leaders. Three emerging logistics companies (CSI Cargo Services, Inc., Direct Delivery, and Benneker) will be featured.

Description:
40 students and 20 volunteers will be visiting the airport for a tour, lunch, fashion show, and an educational project in which they will develop presentations that will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The project will relate to their ideas about how a large public real estate property like the old airport terminal and complex should be redeveloped.
