New year
brings new travel
predictions 2010 was an eventful year for the
aviation industry. Four airlines
(Delta/Northwest and Frontier/Midwest) merged
their operations and others (Continental/United
and AirTran/Southwest) announced they will soon
follow. Volcanic ash temporarily closed much of
Europe's airspace, there were concerns about
H1N1 and continued terrorist threats, and
heightened security measures were implemented.
Despite a little turbulence, data released by
the Flight Safety Foundation reports 2010 was
the sixth-safest year for commercial flights
since 1945. So what can frequent fliers expect
in 2011?
